Rajgir, Bihar: The Indian men’s hockey team stormed into the final of the Asia Cup 2025 with a resounding 7-0 win over China in their last Super 4s match at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium on Saturday.
India began aggressively, scoring twice inside the opening seven minutes. Shilanand Lakra (4’) tapped in from a Jarmanpreet Singh cross after a brilliant aerial ball by skipper Harmanpreet Singh, while Dilpreet Singh (7’) doubled the lead from a rebound off a penalty corner. Mandeep Singh (18’) extended the advantage before halftime.
The second half saw complete domination as Raj Kumar Pal (37’) and Sukhjeet Singh (39’) piled on more goals. Abhishek (46’, 50’) then struck twice in the final quarter to complete the rout. China, unable to earn a single penalty corner, struggled throughout against India’s relentless pressure.
With this emphatic victory, India topped the Super 4s standings with seven points, three clear of defending champions Korea, who defeated Malaysia 4-3 earlier in the day to book the other final spot. India will now face five-time champions Korea in Sunday’s title clash, which also serves as a qualifier for the 2026 World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands.
The win showcased India’s sharp attacking play, disciplined defence, and clinical finishing, sending a strong message ahead of the much-anticipated final.
