DRAWS, DEADLOCKS AND DEFENSIVE MASTERCLASSES: SATURDAY DELIVERS A STALEMATE SPECIAL

PREMIER LEAGUE — MARCH 14 — If Saturday’s Premier League action proved anything, it’s that a clean sheet can be just as hard-fought as a winning goal.
The day’s most goalless encounter came from Turf Moor, where Burnley and Bournemouth played out a tense 0–0 stalemate. Bournemouth dominated — 60% of the ball, 22 shots — but were repeatedly repelled by a well-drilled Burnley backline. Eleven blocks inside the box told the story of a defence determined not to yield.
Meanwhile at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland held Brighton to another 0–0 — a battling, disciplined display from the home side that frustrated a Brighton team who came into the match expecting three points.
Neither draw was dull. Both were fiercely contested. But neutrals hoping for goals went to bed disappointed.
Two draws, zero goals. Saturday, in North England at least, belonged firmly to the defenders.
