MIRACLE AT MOLINEUX: WOLVES STUN LIVERPOOL WITH LAST-GASP WINNER IN BREATHLESS FINISH

WOLVERHAMPTON — They came, they camped, they conquered. Wolverhampton Wanderers produced one of the Premier League’s great smash-and-grab jobs on Wednesday night, snatching a stunning 2–1 victory over Liverpool with a 90th-minute sucker punch that silenced the travelling Kop end and sent Molineux into rapturous delirium.
Liverpool dominated from first whistle to last — 66% possession, 15 shots, 11 corners. They did everything but win. And Wolves, bunkered deep with just five shots to their name, stole all three points in the most dramatic fashion imaginable.
The Reds had looked to be claiming a share of the spoils when Mohamed Salah — as ever, the man for big moments — levelled in the 83rd minute to cancel out Hwang Hee-chan’s 78th-minute opener. Salah’s finish was vintage: composed, precise, inevitable. Liverpool pushed for a winner, sensing blood.
But Wolves had other ideas.
Deep into injury time, with the final whistle a matter of seconds away, the hosts broke with savage efficiency. The ball found its way into the Liverpool net for the second time, and the ground erupted. Final score: Wolves 2, Liverpool 1. A result that will live long in the memory at Molineux.
For Liverpool manager Arne Slot, the defeat will sting. His side controlled virtually everything — Ryan Gravenberch was elegant in midfield, Virgil van Dijk imperious at the back — yet the Premier League’s cruelest lesson was served once again: domination means nothing without goals on the board.
For Wolves, it was a masterclass in disciplined, street-smart football. Low block, pace on the counter, and ice in the veins when it mattered most.
The title race just got a little more interesting.
